Written on the back: "Another hotel I work on my own job! Notice my sign writing....it was blown down just after by the cyclone" Further research found that a cyclone had gone through the area in March 1911. Newspaper article states: "The Nelson Hotel gave way and it looked as though it were going to be levelled with the ground. The wind lifted the top storey posts out and shortly before dark, the roof of the verandah was torn off and blown over the top of the hotel into the yard at the rear.
