One of their favorite pics is of Mick Brown, Trout Unlimited Volunteer, holding a 4.99 pound Gila trout female broodstock fish. This fish would easily smash the current World Record Gila trout caught on rod and reel by a half a pound! After spawning, "Mick's fish" is recovering in the Whiskey Creek isolation system and will be released for the Lake Roberts Kids Fishing Derby on June 4th, 2016, in Silver City, New Mexico. Which means, yes, some lucky New Mexico youth could potentially catch the next World Record Gila trout at that Derby!!
