The Ottawa House was rebuilt two year later using brick construction (in an attempt to make it fire-proof), and an addition in 1901 extended the hotel to the corner of Lincoln Street. The truncated corner and balconies of the addition give a nod to the early design. The building, handsomely restored some 25 years ago, still exists today.
