In June 1916, he was recommended for promotion to a major and attended an Officer Selection Interview in July. Thereafter, he rejoined his battalion, which was engaged in the Battle of Pozières. He died on 2 August 1916, aged 22. He is buried at the Warloy-Baillon Communal Cemetery Extension. Faces of the First World War The full story is not always known to us.
