The Inn was destroyed by fire from a lightning strike one year later. Note the interesting and rustic birch lattice work on the front porch. The rustic look was carried throughout the cottages, outbuildings and the Inn however much of the rustic decorations could not withstand the weather of the elements requiring much upkeep. Proper foundations were lacking on many of the buildings. Poplar log foundations were sometimes used directly on the ground which within a few years rotted away.
