I didn't take Sailor with me, afraid that I was pressing my luck with him along and the bears so close. Then I turned around, looking up-stream, and a much larger Grizzly Bear was coming down the creek looking for Salmon. (I posted that photograph below). In the main photograph, you can see the bear's right foreleg with its very substantial claws! In the beginning of August, the King Salmon return which should really bring out the bears. I have never seen a Summer this active with Grizzly Bears in this area in the 25+ years I've lived here.
