One of eight lovely early interior views. It's really quite unusual to find named, dated images of an interior from this early, so the fact that they are of such superb quality is really exciting. From some quick research it looks as if this block had just been built. From later images we have traced the people depicted as being the family of Fitzroy Carrington, and there is a 1900 census record showing him, wife Charlotte (nee Singleton) and 3 month old son Harold at this address. So it is highly likely that this is Charlotte Carrington. --- These are from a small photo album I disocvered recently containing just under 100 early 'snapshot' images from the very start of the 1900s in the USA. It contains some lovely shots of interiors, houses and especially charming informal shots of young children. But a real bonus is that many are labelled with names, locations and dates. From a photographic point of view some of the images are real gems, and there is a real mixture of printing techniques, including cyanotypes and I believe platinotypes. Check the whole set as I upload it over the coming days - some really stunning shots! Dated May 1900 (presumed to be 1st May as that is when another in this set is captioned).
